    • The asylum, under the control of Plymouth Town Council, was managed by a visiting committee of 12 members of the Council. Built in 1891 and extended in 1905, it accomodated 475 patients and comprised 95 acres, of which 30 acres were covered by asylum buildings and the remainder used as a farm and recreation ground. It was eventually merged into the Moorhaven Mental Asylum (close by) in 1947.
