2365 Not much is known about Jules other than he was a Teacher of French in 1853. When he was admitted to the Workhouse in 1885, he was desacribed as a "Publican". 2367 Note regarding Marians: The Marians was built in the late 19th century on the north side of Barnet Lane, Elstree, and comprised a large house with servant's quarters, stabling, coach house and gardens. The house was subdivided into flats in 1945 and the coach house became a veterinary surgery in the 1970s. Few original architectural details remained inside the buildings, though the house retained an aura of the lifestyle of the late 19th century middle class.
