    • Note regarding Marians: The Marians was built in the late 19th century on the north side of Barnet Lane, Elstree, and comprised a large house with servant's quarters, stabling, coach house and gardens. The house was subdivided into flats in 1945 and the coach house became a veterinary surgery in the 1970s. Few original architectural details remained inside the buildings, though the house retained an aura of the lifestyle of the late 19th century middle class. Following an archealogical dig in 2008, the original house was demolished to make way for new housing.
