He (John Passmore) suffered from an hereditary disease, as I do, called Charcot-Marie-Tooth which is a wasting of the nerve endings and muscles especially in the hands and lower legs. He had to make his own boots as he could never get any to fit and he also did his gardening on his hands and knees."
