- "Rode the rails" east in about 1917 at the time of WW1.
Served 3 apprenticeships (pipe fitting, sheet metal and electrical) at the American Smelting and Refining Company in Garfield, Utah. Worked in these fields and was an electrician in Garfield and Arthur, until moving to California in May 1936, to work as an electrician at Selby [north of San Francisco] which was also an American Smelting and Refining Company smelter for lead, silver and gold. Family lived in the Crockett area. After WW2, moved to Paradise and worked as electrician at the Diamond Lumber Company until closure in 1955, then moved to Hayward, Alameda Co., California and was Custodian for the Hayward School District.
