Mr Partridge was riding his horse (presumably back to his home at Lakelands Farm) following an evening at the inn, when at approximately 9.30pm he fell from the animal. Assistance was given by passers by and he was taken to Witheridge on a waggonette. By the time the doctor had arrived, he had died of his injury.
