4208 | WINTERBOTHAM, LINDSEY PAGE (1887-1960), medical practitioner and aboriginal anthropologist, was born on 14 April 1887 in North Adelaide, eldest of three children of Lindsey Percy Winterbotham, a wool-scourer from England, and his Victorian -born wife Fanny, née de Mole. After attending the Collegiate School of St Peter, Lindsey studied medicine at the University of Adelaide for two years then transferred to the University of Melbourne (M.B., B.S., 1908). Moving to Queensland, he established his own practice at Lowood, west of Brisbane, in 1909. He spent eighteen months as a resident medical officer at the Brisbane General Hospital. He held brief locum tenencies at several country towns. On 20 February 1912 at St Andrew's Church, South Brisbane, he married with Anglican rites Constance Mary Moore, a nurse. 4210 | With regard to the migration of Robert Everett and Martha Mitchburn, Patricia Joy - a family descendant and researcher says this: "Regarding Robert and Martha’s shipping record – it only noted Robert and Martha and 3 children, being Martha b.1812, Charles b. 1821 and Edward b. 1825 arriving on the “Lotus” as already mentioned. I checked this passenger list very carefully and could find no mention of either Robert (jnr) or William Everett, although they were noted in the Tasmanian Colonial Indexes as having also arrived on the “Lotus” in 1831. Information in these very early indexes can be taken from other sources and pretty sketchy." | Family F6106

4211 | Within months of marrying, Alice is said to have taken a wealthy lover. Her first daughter, Violet, was born in 1894, and the father was rumoured to be Ernest William Beckett, the future Lord Grimthorpe. Early in 1898 she met Edward Albert, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), then aged 56. She was 29, and within a matter of weeks Alice was his official mistress. She appears to have been adept at keeping everyone happy, and she was very discreet. Through it all she managed to preserve her own reputation and her marriage to Colonel Hon. George Keppel. It is rumoured that Alice's second daughter, Sonia, was the daughter of King Edward VII although she was said to have a strong resemblance to George Keppel. | Edmonstone, Alice Frederica (I20692)
